The Energy Within Us: Fireside Chat & Cocktail Reception

An evening of deep talks and tasty cocktails to spark the energy inside you. Join us for an intimate and powerful evening centered on leadership, resilience, and breaking barriers in the energy industry. This special fireside chat will feature the five accomplished authors of The Energy Within Us , a powerful collection of personal and professional journeys from African American women executives who have navigated and overcome both the glass ceiling and the “black ceiling” to reach the highest levels of corporate leadership. A common thread of all the women is their involvement in American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) and each has served as an officer at one point in time on the National Board. Through candid conversation, the authors will share personal insights from their journeys—what it takes to rise in an industry where representation remains limited, how they sustained momentum in the face of systemic challenges, and the strategies that helped them lead with purpose and impact. Their stories serve not only as inspiration, but as practical blueprints for professionals aspiring to advance their careers and expand their influence. This discussion will explore themes of perseverance, mentorship, education, and the importance of building strong professional networks. It will also address the broader need for continued progress in diversifying leadership across the energy sector and beyond. Following the conversation, guests are invited to a cocktail reception where they can connect with fellow professionals, engage with the authors, and continue the dialogue in a more informal setting. Whether you are an emerging leader, an established professional, or an advocate for greater equity in the workplace, this event offers both inspiration and actionable insight. Program will begin a 6pm with cocktail reception to follow. Ticket includes food and drinks/cocktails. Dress Code: Dressy and business casual attire are preferred. In order to maintain an enjoyable environment for all of our guests, venue does not permit any athletic wear including sweats and hoodies, rubber slides/flip-flops, excessively revealing clothing, or exposed undergarments.
